SBI Gram Saksham

Our Initiative

Improve Living Standards

In collaboration with the SBI Foundation, Sanjeevani is driving holistic rural transformation across 10 villages in Syalde Block, Almora, Uttarakhand, through the SBI Gram Saksham initiative. Empowering 200 women with sustainable goat-rearing livelihoods, strengthening Self-Help Groups, and promoting financial literacy, the project simultaneously enhances community well-being by expanding primary veterinary care via trained Pashu Sakhis, installing solar-powered street lights, ensuring access to safe drinking water, and establishing open fitness gyms. By integrating economic empowerment, institutional capacity building, and critical infrastructure development under the continued umbrella of Gram Seva, SBI Gram Saksham is fostering resilient, inclusive, and self-reliant communities—creating a scalable model for sustainable rural development in the Himalayan region. The project encompasses 490 households with a total population of 2,114 across 10 villages, directly empowering 200 women through 20 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) as key beneficiaries.

Our Strategy

Agri-Horticulture

Community water filtration systems delivered year-round safe drinking water, reduced waterborne illness, and eased the daily burden on families.

Education

Scholarships that secure futures. Open gyms that unite generations. Uninterrupted education. Inclusive fitness. Empowering youth, strengthening communities.

Women Empowerment

Financial freedom began with SHGs. Pashu Sakhis became trusted village vets, the Goat Resource Center built sustainable skills, and exposure visits turned inspiration into action. Culminating in Pashu Mela — a community hub for fair pricing and direct sales.

Livelihood

From insurance, vaccines & fodder to animal camps and low-cost sheds, we secured herd health and welcomed new kids. Training turned rearers into skilled entrepreneurs—turning prevention into prosperity.

Environment

Solar lights across villages did more than banish darkness—they unlocked night-time education, boosted local businesses, and redefined rural life after sunset.

From Sick Goats to Self-Reliance: One Woman’s Doorstep Care Transforms a Village

In Chichaun village, a sick goat once meant costly delays or loss. Today, Asha Rawat delivers doorstep care. Trained as a Pashu Sakhi under SBI Gram Saksham, she now tends 40+ goats, earns ₹500–650 monthly, and has slashed livestock mortality. More than a caregiver, Asha is the village’s first responder—a living testament that women drive rural resilience. Her journey from beneficiary to champion has inspired others to pursue skill-based livelihoods, shifting her community from dependency to self-reliance.

The HRDP Promise

In Sulah, HRDP with HDFC Bank CSR Parivartan empowers communities beyond infrastructure—building climate‑resilient, gender‑inclusive self‑reliance. Success is surplus: energy, earnings, agency. Progress spreads as villagers lead, health endures, and choices remain local. What begins as support becomes lasting strength, shaping futures without end.

What The Future Holds

Communities are now on their way to becoming proactive problem-solvers, embracing agency and dignity over dependency. Women are taking the lead, farmers are becoming progressive, and youth are taking the lead—making local power a legacy for future generations.
