Sanjeevani’s Jute Service Center initiative, successfully completed under the aegis of the National Jute Board (Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India), has transformed rural livelihoods across Uttarakhand’s Almora district and emerging cluster zones. Championing sustainable craft revitalization, we delivered comprehensive capacity building—from grassroots awareness workshops and foundational skill training to advanced technical modules and design innovation. This end-to-end approach empowered women SHGs, traditional artisans, and disadvantaged communities to produce high-quality, market-ready jute diversified products (JDPs).

By forging strategic partnerships with DRDAs, DICs, state departments, and research institutions, we ensured transparent beneficiary selection, equitable resource distribution, and seamless integration with government handloom programs. Our flagship 7-day Buyer-Seller Meets and district exhibitions directly connected trained producers with exporters, retail buyers, and state emporiums, prioritizing newly established JDP units.

This initiative has scaled local production clusters, generated sustainable employment, and significantly boosted jute utilization. Sanjeevani remains dedicated to advancing eco-friendly livelihoods, bridging heritage craftsmanship with contemporary markets, and delivering measurable economic resilience for Uttarakhand’s rural communities.

In 2004, partnering with National Centre for Jute Diversification (NCJD), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, we uplifted marginalized women in Bhakura, Almora, by introducing green jute crafts. This initiative curbed polythene uses and boosted local livelihoods. Although the brief project duration caused raw material supply challenges, it highlighted our vital role in driving sustainable community economic growth and empowering women.

Under DRDA Almora SGSY, we empowered rural BPL communities by forming 25 SHGs across Syaldey and Bhikyasen. We successfully linked 22 SHGs to banks, securing credit for dairy and goat enterprises. Through vital market linkages, we transformed grassroots entrepreneurs into independent business owners, ensuring sustainable local livelihoods and economic growth.

Tasked by NABARD to promote the SHPI programme across six blocks in Almora and Bageshwar districts, we successfully formed 180 SHGs. We are now actively driving bank linkages and capacity building for these SHPIs, empowering local rural communities through sustainable financial inclusion and institutional development initiatives across the entire region.

Under the Navachar Pariyojna for DESTO Bageshwar, we empowered 60 rural women by September 2013 through specialized loom weaving training. Delivered by expert master trainers, this initiative fostered independence, enabling these women to create diversified products and confidently establish sustainable small businesses for their comprehensive social and economic community upliftment.

Under the Integrated Livelihood Support Project in Bhikyasen, Almora, we successfully empowered rural women through commercial floriculture and artisanal felt product manufacturing. By delivering hands-on skill training and robust market linkages, we generated sustainable employment, fostering financial independence and entrepreneurial growth among the region’s female workforce for lasting community impact.

Sanjeevani successfully spearheaded grassroots empowerment and rural transformation by uplifting women and marginalized communities. We achieved this through comprehensive interventions that built sustainable ecosystems of true independence. Our key achievements include conducting foundational to advanced skill development workshops, equipping locals with vital technical expertise. We bridged traditional craftsmanship with modern market demands via innovative design dissemination and technical demonstrations. Crucially, we established direct economic freedom by organizing impactful buyer and seller meets and forging robust market linkages. Ultimately, Sanjeevani transformed rural potential into tangible prosperity, fostering inclusive growth, dignity, and lasting economic empowerment for all underserved populations across the region.
