Sustainable Livelihood Enhancement Through Agri-Horticulture
Our Initiative
Rural Livelihoods in Nainital Hills
Promotion of sustainable livelihood through natural resource conservation and modern Agri-horticulture interventions in the hills of Nainital district in Uttarakhand.
Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives and Sanjeevani have partnered to uplift 1,500 small and marginal farming households across 15 villages in Betalghat, Nainital.
The initiative tackles deep-rooted challenges-low productivity, poor soil health, scarce irrigation, and limited access to modern farming knowledge—through community-based solutions: capacity building, natural resource conservation, scientific agri-horticulture, and government linkages.
By training master trainers and establishing demonstration centers, the program creates a ripple effect across the community. The goal: 40% productivity gains, sustainable incomes, and over 70% of farmers connected to government support – paving the way from vulnerability to resilience.
Our Strategy
Agri-Horticulture
It initiative empowers small farmers with high-yielding seeds, boosting productivity through modern practices and sustainable natural farming.
Livelihood
Community master trainers will lead field-level training through local demonstration centres, while water harvesting tanks will provide sustainable irrigation for small and marginal farming households.
Capacity Building
To captivate farmers in natural, science-based methods to cut costs, restore soil health, and boost yields—while post-harvest support and community fencing minimize losses and maximize profits.
Nature Resource Conservation
Community-led training, master trainers drive sustainable agri-horticulture in village households, boosting incomes, conserving resources, and building self-sustaining ecosystems.
Nexus
Interface meetings secure government collaboration and convergence, driving project efficiency and long-term sustainability.
The HRDP Promise
In Sulah, HRDP with HDFC Bank CSR Parivartan empowers communities beyond infrastructure—building climate‑resilient, gender‑inclusive self‑reliance. Success is surplus: energy, earnings, agency. Progress spreads as villagers lead, health endures, and choices remain local. What begins as support becomes lasting strength, shaping futures without end.
What The Future Holds
Communities are now on their way to becoming proactive problem-solvers, embracing agency and dignity over dependency. Women are taking the lead, farmers are becoming progressive, and youth are taking the lead—making local power a legacy for future generations.
