Sustainable Livelihoods and Tribal Empowerment
Sanjeevani partners with NABARD to ignite transformative change for tribal communities in Kapkote, Bageshwar—driving an Integrated Tribal Development Programme that empowers ST households with sustainable livelihoods, resilient agriculture, and inclusive growth in the heart of Uttarakhand’s Himalayas. This integrated livelihood initiative transforms fragile rural landscapes into resilient, market-driven economies by empowering over 205 smallholder households. Combining climate-smart agriculture, decentralized water infrastructure, and traditional enterprises, it establishes diversified, sustainable income streams tailored to local ecosystems and community strengths. To catalyze inclusive rural prosperity by enhancing household incomes through high-value wadi horticulture (162 beneficiaries), dairy (22), goatry, and poultry (10/600 hens); building climate resilience via 20 HDPE water harvesting tanks; preserving indigenous livelihoods through direct-market Ringal handicrafts (11); and promoting ecological sustainability through natural farming and soil-water conservation. By prioritizing skill development, infrastructure access, and direct market linkages, the programme fosters self-reliant villages where communities lead their own sustainable economic transformation.
