Impact of Livelihood Rehabilitation
Atmanirbhar Shamoodhay – Self-Reliant Community
CBM-supported Atmanirbhar Shamoodhay (Self-Reliant Community) has successfully concluded, transforming the lives of 2,000 marginalized families—including 300 persons with disabilities—across Dehradun’s Sahaspur and Raipur blocks. Aligned with the SDGs, the project dismantled stigma and dependency by integrating livelihood empowerment with holistic rehabilitation. Participants built economic resilience through beekeeping, mushroom cultivation, goat farming, and vegetable nurseries, alongside vital training in mobility, daily living skills, and sign language.
Grassroots impact was driven by inclusive Self-Help Groups (iSHGs) and strengthened Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), empowering right-holders to lead community decision-making and public advocacy. The initiative culminated in the launch of an inclusive Farmers Producer Organization (iFPO), enabling value-added production and direct market access under a unified, registered brand.
Today, beneficiaries are successfully linked to government welfare schemes, equipped with rights-based awareness, and financially independent. Atmanirbhar Shamoodhay stands as a proven, scalable model of inclusive development—turning vulnerability into lasting self-reliance. Thank you to our visionary donors for championing equity and making this sustainable transformation possible.
Promotion of Sustainable Livelihood in the Hills of Uttarakhand
PRAISE was a transformative partnership between CBM India Trust and The Hans Foundation, implemented with Sanjeevani as the lead partner across Almora’s Chaukhutia and Syalde blocks. Completed in 2020, the initiative advanced disability-inclusive development across Uttarakhand’s challenging hill terrain, directly improving the quality of life and economic resilience of persons with disabilities (PwDs).
Through targeted capacity building, community awareness, and socio-economic mapping, PRAISE catalyzed systemic change. We established 372 Community-Based Inclusive Groups, 04 Disabled People’s Organisations, and 04 self-sustaining Farmers Producers Organisations. Over 100 PwDs were formally linked to Mudra and lead banks, while comprehensive skill training equipped them as master trainers in farm and non-farm sectors. Backed by demonstration units, seed funding, and tailored business plans, beneficiaries launched viable enterprises. The project also operationalized an inclusive Agribusiness Kendra, integrated PwDs into state agriculture schemes, and forged strategic government and NGO partnerships for sustained advocacy.
Today, PRAISE stands as a proven, replicable model for mountain-region inclusive development. By prioritizing financial inclusion, skill transfer, and institutional sustainability, the programme has permanently shifted PwDs from dependency to economic agency. We extend our deepest gratitude to our donors and partners—your visionary support turned inclusion into lasting, measurable impact.
Green Livelihood
Supported by CBM India Trust and CBM Germany, the Green Livelihood Programme successfully empowered over 200 persons with disabilities, including women, across Uttarakhand. Aligned with CBM’s global mission to advance disability-inclusive development, the initiative delivered targeted skill training in sustainable farm and non-farm enterprises: horticulture, apiculture, mushroom cultivation, dairy, floriculture, and medicinal and spice processing. Beyond capacity building, we prioritized financial inclusion, strengthened local self-governance, and established Disability Producer Organisations to ensure long-term resilience. Strategic linkages with state government schemes secured lasting market access and livelihood security. Now completed, this project stands as a proven model of eco-conscious, disability-inclusive enterprise development—transforming marginalized lives into self-reliant households while advancing full societal participation. We sincerely thank our donors for fuelling this transformative impact and remain committed to scaling sustainable green livelihoods that truly leave no one behind.
